On the evening of February 8,2022, Beijing time, the US Customs released the 2021 US tire import data. In 2021, the United States imported 189 million passenger car tires, up 11.9% compared with 2020, imported truck tires 17,25 million, year-on-year growth of 32.8%.

In 2021, the United States conducted a double investigation into passenger car tires in Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Taiwan, China, and finally landed. From the final tax rate, Vietnam is significantly lower than in other countries. Therefore, from the import data of passenger car tires, in 2021, the United States imported 14.06 million tires from Vietnam, up 6.8% year on year, and 40.6 million tires from Thailand, down 7% year on year. The two showed significant differentiation.

In 2021, the American truck tire imports increased significantly. From 2019, 2020, 2021, the American truck tire imported for 14.46 million, 12.99 million, 17.25 million. 

With the gradual liberalization of the epidemic control measures, the demand for truck tires in the United States market has also increased significantly compared with 2019. By country, the United States imported truck tires from Vietnam 0.72million, 1.25 million, 1.9 million. Imported from Thailand 4.56 million, 4.69 million, 7.01 million. Over the past three years, the US imports of truck tires from Vietnam and Thailand have increased significantly. This is mainly affected by the capacity increase of Chinese enterprises in both countries and the popularity of cost-effective products in the US market. 

Data shows that 2021 is a year of collective pressure in the tire industry. Especially since the second quarter, under the multiple pressures of high sea freight, upstream raw material prices, weak domestic market demands, the overall performance of the tire enterprises declined.
